			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft  wp-image-547" title="Pentametron &quot;sonnets&quot; Twitter" src="http://www.socialmediaheadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/botty2.png" alt="" width="210" height="213" />Meet Pentametron, a bot that is a literature nerd’s dream. This bot turns your tweets into rhyming couplets.</p>
<p>Pentametron automatically collects twitter posts that happen to be in iambic pentameter. It processes about five million tweets per day, and finds a few dozen iambic lines in that time.</p>
<p>Through a tweeter account, the bot retweets sequential tweets that fit into the ten-syllable alternating-stress meter commonly used in Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets, complete with rhyming couplets. It also posts them on Pentametron.comin 14 line sonnets.</p>
<p>According to Gawker, an American online media company,  the bot first “strips the tweet of emoticons and ASCII art. It then cross-references each word against the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary… If the tweet is in iambic pentameter, Pentametron retweets it; if not, it moves on.”</p>
<p>&#8221; One of the goals of Pentametron is to show how weird and interesting this giant flood of language is,&#8221; Ranjit Bhatnagar, the creator of the bot tells Gawker.</p>

<p>Users can browse relevant jobs and save them for pursuing later. The app also lets users follow news and updates from specific companies.</p>
<p>The app incorporates updates via Twitter from LinkedIn contacts as well as an animated tile that flips between displaying a story headline and its related image, giving the app a feel of immediacy and activity.</p>
<p>&#8220;We took advantage of the unique and beautiful Windows Phone metro style design while ensuring users would have easy and quick access to all the relevant professional information they’ve come to rely on from LinkedIn&#8221; wrote Tomer Cohen, mobile product manager at LinkedIn.</p>

Facebook? Wrong. Twitter? Wrong. Pinterest? Wrong again.</p>
<p>According to comScore‘s most recent social networking data, from the month of March, the San Francisco-based site Tagged engages users like no other service.</p>
<p>And each time a Tagged user visited the site, he or she stuck around for 12.1 minutes — which trailed only Tumblr (14.7 minutes) and beat out Facebook (10.9 minutes).</p>
<p>“ We had found out a lot of our users were actually using Tagged to meet new people, so that led us to pivot into a new space called ‘social discovery,’ where people use sites to make new social relationships.”- Tagged CEO, Tseng said.</p>
<p>As opposed to sites like Facebook, where people primarily organize and maintain relationships established offline, Tagged functions mostly as a portal to meet new people online for romance or simply friendship.</p>
<p>The site’s algorithms encourage users to connect based on shared interests, tastes and hobbies. “Facebook is the place where you maintain your current 150,” he says. “And Tagged will be the place where you refresh that 150.”</p>

<p>One month after its $1 billion acquisition of Instagram, Facebook has added filters to one of its apps.</p>
<p>Users of Facebook’s app for non-smartphones, “Facebook for Every Phone,” can now tweak their photos with Sepia or Grayscale filters similar to those Instagram offers.</p>
<p>Instagram had nothing to do with the new feature, a Facebook spokesperson told Inside Facebook. Rather, the apps were developed at an employee hackathon.</p>
<p>The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether it would be expanding the feature to its other apps.</p>

<p>How can Facebook grow bigger still? That’s what we’re waiting to see as the tech world – heck, the world at large – holds it breath for the launch of its initial public offering (IPO) happening in just two and a half weeks&#8217; time, apparently set for Friday May 18 with a corporate roadshow to mark the announcement beginning on Monday, May 7. The news was first reported via The Wall Street Journal&#8217;s Twitter account.</p>
<p>The IPO is expected to be the biggest ever since Google went public in 2004. The date of the launch has remained somewhat in limbo as Facebook awaited approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the social networking site&#8217;s S-1 filing, according to CNET.</p>
<p>Forbes contributor Darcy Travlos questioned the move, saying it might trouble Facebook&#8217;s investors after reports that the company has experienced &#8220;slowing metrics&#8221; and recently acquired the photo-sharing site Instagram for $1 billion.</p>
<p>Facebook&#8217;s roadshow, in which the company will offer a presentation to potential investors, is expected to be held in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Baltimore and Los Angeles, according to the New York Times. The first meeting will likely take place on Monday in New York at banking giant Morgan Stanley.</p>
<p>The name of the corporate roadshow game is to explain why your stock will be such a good buy, although in Facebook’s case that shouldn’t be too hard. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft" src="http://www.socialmediaheadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/fb.png" alt="" width="113" height="110" />Facebook is testing ‘Trending Articles’ Insert in their Newsfeed.</p>
<p>The insert is prominent, to the point where it actually seems to “take over” the Newsfeed. David Holley, who sent over the screenshot below, called it “obnoxious as hell.” He said he was surprised to see it in his Newsfeed in the first place because he doesn’t use any of the social reader apps. What’s more, those articles weren’t really “trending” — only one of his friends had read each of the articles highlighted in the section.</p>
<p>It may be only a test, but at this point, the feature — which already exists in different forms on Twitter and Google+ — seems more annoying than helpful. I’d rather see a “Trending Articles” tab on the side of the page that would allow me to tap into the stories of the moment. I’m not interested in having what are essentially advertisements for social reader apps taking up valuable real estate in my Newsfeed.</p>

Why? They ought to submit the craziest shoes they have ever worn while operating a car. Present submissions include giant height-altering heels and gargantuan platforms. The winner will receive safer and more sensible flats to wear while driving.</p>
<p>In an online survey of U.K. drivers, women have admitted to applying makeup while driving. This is a part of an ongoing campaign to warn drivers about dangerous behind-the-wheel habits to shaving in the car.</p>
<p>The goal is to prevent needless tragedies on the road.  So the insurance company decided to use Pinterest to raise awareness for widespread, obscure and unsafe driving habits. The company hopes to engage with the 40% of women who drive in heels with the Pinterest contest.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft  wp-image-377" src="http://www.socialmediaheadline.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Camera2-150x150.png" alt="" width="120" height="120" />Facebook wasn’t the only one interested in purchasing the photo-filtering wonder application in snapping up photo-sharing app Instagram last week for $1 billion.</p>
<p>Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey was one of the early backers of Instagram, investing in the service in February 2011. Dorsey was also a part of the beta of Instagram and tweeted pictures using the service before it was available to the public, adding buzz around the app’s release.</p>
<p>While Dorsey has posted quite a few Instagram photos over the past year, his Instagram stream has gone silent since the Facebook acquisition of the service.</p>

It searches the net &#8211; including tweets, news stories and blogs &#8211; to offer a customized feed. It automatically creates status updates about its user&#8217;s interests.</p>
<p>It is offered via the web or as a smartphone app, and was created by engineers who had previously worked for Amazon and Microsoft. It is likely to compete with Facebook&#8217;s news feed, prompting speculation that it could become a takeover target.</p>
<p>Mark Zuckerberg&#8217;s social network <a href="http://www.socialmediaheadline.com/facebook-got-lots-of-reactions-in-buying-instagram/">made headlines on Monday </a>when it announced it was buying 18-month-old rival Instagram for $1bn (£629m).</p>
<p>While Facebook&#8217;s feed is mainly based on status updates and content shared by friends, Wavii highlights what&#8217;s happening in the world at large by creating personalised news streams based on data taken from across the web.</p>
